We train local pastors and leaders in biblical ethics with the goal of launching a national movement that rescues unborn lives and leads mothers to find salvation in Christ.
The Situation in Guatemala
Guatemala has strong prolife laws protecting the unborn. Nonetheless, there is a general belief that abortion is widespread. The Lancet reports an abortion rate of 44* in this region. For comparison, the same study shows the rate in Asia, known to be extremely high, at 36.
Guatemala’s strong prolife values have made it the target of globalist organizations. The government is under steady pressure to liberalize its laws on abortion, contraception, and marriage.
If the Church does not stand confidently for life and provide compassionate help for those in crisis, the current protections will be swept away. Pray for them to stand strong!
*The abortion rate is the number of women out of every 1000, aged 15-39, who had an abortion in a single year.
Our Strategy for Guatemala
Teaching the 4 Questions in a biblical, logical, and concise manner leads to the following outcomes:
- The treasuring of human life
- The rejection of abortion
- The proclamation of the Gospel, including Christ’s forgiveness, resulting in freedom from guilt.
- The rescuing of unborn babies by reaching one mother at a time.
Our strategy is to encourage rapid replication of our teaching content so that mothers and babies are rescued from abortion and come to faith in Christ.
The Guatemalan Church as an Army of Good Samaritans
Once the leadership is trained in the 4 Questions, their churches are taught to mobilize and rescue mothers and babies through counseling, support ministries, pregnancy centers, post-abortion care, and other initiatives. Ultimately, families are transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
